Judith as told by Lovis, part 3

05 Jan

To finish off Corinth’s book –

Lovis Corinth, “Judith Beheads Holofernes,” 1910, lithograph, 28.3 x 24.3 cm, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, USA

Lovis Corinth, “The Return of Judith,” 1910, lithograph, 27.2 x 23.1 cm, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, USA

Well, at this point, you know the rest of the story.   Although unlike other versions,  this depiction includes the drapery from Holoferenes’ bed.   So now Judith can shout:  “I got the bedspread, too!!”

Additionally, I did not realize Judith was an American Patriot.   This picture of her triumphant return appears to be backed by an The Stars and Stripes.   And she has that fervent look in her eye.

Wow.   I do believe she could be preparing for the next Presidential Election with that kind of Wild-Eyed Stupefying Sensational Showmanship.
