Judith out in the cold

Judith statue, photographed by Roger Rössing, 1947

Roger Rössing was one of the most famous photographers in East Germany in the 1950’s and beyond.   His work centered on Leipzig – which is most likely the location of this statue of Judith. (1)

But where?  Who created it?  Why?  And what happened to Judith’s nose?  Only a trip to Leipzig and a Privatdetektiv may answer those questions.

(1)  from the Deutsche Fotothek, record 88880225
