Judith with the Dragon Tattoo

02 Aug

Jel Ena, “Judith and Holofernes,” 2011, watercolor pastel on paper, 18 x 22 in,

Yesterday was devoted to the delicate and pious Judith who was the predecessor to the Virgin Mary.   Today … not so much.  Unless you were thinking of a predecessor to Lisbeth Salander.

Which absolutely makes sense when you think of the feminine power of both characters.

But the most priceless aspect of this composition is Holofernes’ head.   Wearing my favorite Wayfarers.  Cracked.  Is it my imagination, or does he look a little like Tom Cruise?
