Judith goes through the trash

02 Sep

(From Doublemint Twins of Judith)

I am going to take a flying leap and confess …

Gubin Mikhail, “Judith and Holofernes,” 2011, Wood collage, 25 x 22 x 15 in,

… I really don’t get it.  Except the artist’s technique is to reclaim items from the trash and turn the pieces into objects.

Unless it is supposed to resemble this …

Giulio Cesare Procaccini, “Judith and Holofernes,” c.1620, Oil on canvas, 182 x 140 cm, Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco, Room XXVI, Milan, Italy
