Judith as the Material Girl

Admit it: you were expecting Madonna.

Judith (2011) Ruth Poor

Ruth LizBeth Poor, “Judith And Holofernes,” 2011, Mixed media (Plaster, Acrylic, Paper, Screen, And Aluminum On Board), 12 x 48 x 3 in,

In turn, I will admit that I am infinitely intrigued by these abstract depictions of Judith and Holofernes.  So stark and rough.  So simple.  And yet conveying the essence of male and female, life and death.  Crude and elegant.

But it looks like Judith is only half-way through her task and needs to finish him off.  Madonna would.
